![]() ![]() ![]() the demographic that generally speaking isn't interested in the comic book form? At the risk of pigeonholing Janet Evanovich fans, aren't they mostly.oh, how should I say it. So, benefit of the doubt, perhaps someone already familiar with the characters might gain some appreciation from this GN. ![]() This being the only Evanovich title I've ever read, I suspect it's meant for those who already follow any of the Barnaby and Hooker series, since the graphic novel doesn't do a great job at introducing the characters (it doesn't help that the two main characters, Sam and Alex, both have dual gender names), or explaining why Sam - I mean, no, Alex - continues to hang out with and go on escapades with (and.date, I think? Or.just pretend to date, maybe?) Sam despite her showing absolutely no signs whatsoever or anything less than hating his guts. From what I gather, there are three Barnaby and Hooker series - Metro Girl, Motor Mouth, and Troublemaker - but as far as I can find only Troublemaker has a graphic novel form. The parenthetical bit "(A Barnaby and Hooker Graphic Novel #3)" is a bit confusing. ![]()

Knowing what had happened in such a detailed point of view gave the reader an opportunity to truely understand how Jennifer felt during the frightful event. I believe Jennifer wanted to give us a strong sense of what exactly happened to her. This story was quite descriptive when it came to what actually happened, both during the rape and what happened after the rape. They were able to share each of their stories differently, yet completely together. Jennifer and Ron were able to tell thier individual point of view of the story. That way we couldn’t veiw our opinions strictly to one or the other. ![]() This gave both, Jennifer and Cotton, a turn to tell their story. I enjoyed being able to see both how Jennifer whent through the rape and questioning and being able to see what actually happened with Cotton. Writing this book in this pattern gave each character a turn to show their side of the story. The next chapter was told in the view of Ronald Cotton, the suspect. How things looked on her point of view, exactly how things happened on the night of her rape. ![]() ![]() She first told the story, in the eyes on Jennifer. ![]() Jennifer Thompson wrote “Picking Cotton” in a different sort of way. ![]() ![]() I now have hundreds of e mails to which I have replied, employing a pompous, serious tone, goading my correspondents for their spelling mistakes and poor grammar, whilst offering bogus or downright silly advice on how to improve their skateboarding. ![]() I began to publish the best of these replies on my web-site and I soon had people writing to me tell me how these mails had them crying with laughter. Unfortunately for me, Tony Hawk chose to name all his skateboarding computer games after him, so they were called things like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. The reason why this is unfortunate is because it seems that young American skateboarders have failed to grasp the concept of an apostrophe* and even though it is abundantly clear on my web-site that I am an English comedian and author, they still write to me asking me questions like ‘How do you do a 900’ or ‘an Ollie’? A while back I grew tired of this, and one mischievous day I decided to starting writing back to these skateboarding enthusiasts. ![]() ![]() For more than twenty years I have been mistaken for Tony Hawk, the American skateboarder. ![]() ![]() ![]() The layout of the book also makes an overall connection back to basketball. The action of the game is felt through, not just the words, but the actual layout of the words on the page. Lines are offset at different spacing, taking the readers eyes across the page in a way one’s eyes might follow a player on the court. Use of italics and various size fonts emphasize different words. Whenever Josh is playing basketball and is giving the reader a play by play of the game, the poetry style becomes more dramatic. ![]() Alexander also uses specific poem styles for various scenarios. Each poem’s first line is written in bold and also serves as the poem’s title. Alexander’s free verse poetry keep the story moving and help the reader progress quickly from scene to scene.
